14 May News from the South Glens Falls-Town of Moreau Chamber of Commerce, 5/6/2024
Call to order by President Cheryl Lawyer at 5:30pm
Attendees: Cheryl Lawyer, Ashley Wilbur, Alicia Bethel, Linda Cusma, Holly DeKleine, Joan Heber
Approval of the Agenda: Motion by Linda, 2nd by Holly, motion passed.
Approve of the minutes for the February Meeting: Corrected Alicia’s last name. Motion by Holly, 2nd by Alicia
President’s Report:
- Five board members attended, and many ideas were share about developing membership, activities, etc. Discussed how to grow this networking.
- Regularly attending Village Board meetings
- SGF Memorial Day Parade – Alicia, Linda, Ashley confirmed; two will march with banner. Cheryl offered her convertible.
- Facebook spotlights needed.
- Thank you Linda Cusma for great Canva class on 5/2
- Yard signs distributed with Chamber logo and event QR code for Village/Town Garage Sale
- Letter signed by attendees validating Cheryl as president so tax ID form can be obtained.
- Treasurer’s Report attached.
Committee Reports:
- Concerts in the Park – At least 3 more sponsors are needed at $500 each to break even. Reviewed list. Members will reach out to potential sponsors. Create posters by end of May. Dates are on the new chamber rack card.
- Scholarships – 3 applicants; deadline for selections is May 20th. Ashley and Cheryl will review. Checks will be awarded to winners at their award ceremony in June.
- Golf Tournament – meeting after the Board meeting; assigning outreach
- Membership – new email distribution program SendGrid to increase professional image and improve communication; newsletter will be sent through the program after summary of board meeting notes sent to Alicia
- Christmas Tree Lighting – no report
Old Business:
Chamber statement about Biochar. Voted that as a nonpartisan organization, the chamber will not make a public statement on the issue. Motion: Holly, 2nd Alicia . All attendees voted in favor of the motion.
New Business:
- Ashley Wilbur voted in as a Board Member
- Grand Reopening Ribbon Cutting at Mr. Bill’s Carhop; 11:30-2; ribbon cut by 11:40; Jesse Fish Town Supervisor will attend
- Open House Ribbon Cutting, Awesome Hair Lab, Wednesday June 12, 5-7pm
